We love Lee’s Summit, Missouri! We may be biased, but we
think Lee’s Summit is the best area of Kansas City to call home. No matter what
season there are tons of activities here, but summer especially is a fantastic
time to enjoy and explore our wonderful neck of the woods.

Summit Waves Water Park
Open from late-May to
mid-August, Summit Waves is the perfect place to take the family on a hot
summer’s day. Relax in the lazy river or let the kids play on the various pools
and slides. The concessions won’t break the bank, either! Lee’s Summit

Longview Lake
For more aquatic summer fun head
over to Longview Lake. The 930 acres of water entertainment and 14 shelters
offer a great place to get together with friends and family. The 1-acre beach area
offers plenty of space for sunbathing and relaxing, or up the ante on a power boat
or jet ski. There are also quite a few events and activities hosted by Jackson
County Parks + Rec throughout the summer, so check out their website for

B & B Theaters
Beat the heat this summer at B
& B Theaters. Started by two families (Bills and Bagby) in 1980, the
history of the theater truly begins in 1924 when Elmer Bills, Sr. founded Bills
Theatres, playing silent movies in Salsbury, MO. A decade or two later Sterling
Bagby, a former concession clerk, started the Bagby Traveling Picture Show that
evolved into a drive-in theater circuit. Fast forward to 1980 when the two
families decided to join forces and turn the two family businesses into B&B
Theaters. From the days of silent films, through the drive-in craze, all the
way to the digital era of today, they are truly in it for a love of film. See

Downtown Days
Kick off the summer at Lee’s
Summit Downtown Days! Held each year in early June, Downtown Days is the go-to southeast
Kansas City festival. Enjoy this family-friendly (free!) event that’s been going
on yearly for over three decades I the heart of downtown Lee’s Summit. Stop by
for live music and entertainment, festival foods, carnival rides, crafts and
other wares, and much more. With new attractions and entertainment options each

Oktoberfest
Bookend summer festivities with
another fabulous Lee’s Summit festival at Oktoberfest! Held mid- to
late-September (technically after summer, but a great way to welcome fall!), Oktoberfest
serves as a fundraiser to support Lee’s Summit businesses. Enjoy and experience
everything you’ve come to know and love about Oktoberfest, from the traditional
German arts and crafts to all the brats you can eat. And of course, there’s a
Biergarten, and even a Rootbiergarten! Learn more and check out all the food,
